Photo of the Week: Full Worm Moon Marks Start of Spring

By: Rich Hosford

Another week, another photo to highlight.

This week we have a photo that is sure to have the wolves howling. It was sent in by Sushila Patel and shows the Worm Moon that occurred on Wednesday, March 20 just under four hours after the vernal equinox, the moment when the length of day and night on Earth is nearly the same, marking the start of spring in the Northern Hemisphere and autumn in the Southern Hemisphere. So the moon was full when spring arrived.

Thanks for the photo, Sushila!

We’d like to see your photos. They could be of something you see around town, the weather outside your own door or even photos of your family members and pets. Whatever you think is interesting and would like to share.

Email your photos to with the subject line “Photo of the Week.”
