Photo of the Week: Police Rescue a Grumpy Owl

By: Rich Hosford

Another week, another photo to highlight!

This week’s photo shows a delicate rescue underway though the rescuee doesn’t look happy about the situation. It is from the Burlington Police Department and shows a Great Horned Owl that was caught in a soccer net at Memorial Elementary School. Acting quickly, police say, officers Joe Papsedero and Spiros Tsingos carefully cut away some of the netting and freed the bird. In their post police argue that the owl is a bit grumpy about the situation saying “Believe it or not, this is the owl’s happy face!” We’re not so sure.

No matter the bird’s disposition, great job on the rescue everyone!

We’d like to see your photos. They could be of something you see around town, the weather outside your own door or even photos of your family members and pets. Whatever you think is interesting and would like to share.

Email your photos to bcat@bcattv.org with the subject line “Photo of the Week.”
