Planning Board Looks Into Car Storage Lot

By: Rich Hosford

The Planning Board met Thursday night and had a lengthy discussion on a proposed storage lot for automobiles.

The project in question concerns a lot next to Herb Chambers Porsche and Audi. The dealership is looking to turn the lot, the site of the former Mattress Mart and Stone Surfaces Inc. businesses, into a storage area for its inventory of automobiles. The dealership is looking to store up to 149 vehicles in the lot.

Members of the Planning Board raised concerns about the landscaping plan. As part of a variance, the board must ensure the storage lot is screened from view on Cambridge Street.

Specifically board members were concerned that in the latest plan they have seen they thought drivers traveling North on Cambridge would see a “sea of cars.”

The board requested Herb Chambers come to the next meeting with an updated plan from its Landscape Architect that shows a realistic view of what drivers will see when approaching the lot. The issue was continued to the November 6th meeting.
