Pneumonia Vaccine Available for Residents Over 65
The following is a release from the Burlington Health Department:
Prevnar 13® pneumonia vaccine is recommended for all adults 65 years or older. According to the CDC, “each year in the United States, about 18,000 adults 65 years or older die and thousands more end up in the hospital because of pneumococcal disease. The best way to prevent pneumococcal disease is by getting vaccinated.”
The Burlington Board of Health is now offering Prevnar 13® to Burlington residents over the age of 65, regardless of insurance status, by appointment only.
To schedule an appointment, please call Roberta Gullage, RN, Supervising Nurse, at 781-505-1139. A brief screening will be conducted over the phone to provide information and determine eligibility.
