Popular Video Baby Monitor Being Recalled Over Safety Issue
A popular baby monitor is being recalled due to the possibility of users being burned.
Lorex Technology Inc., a Canadian company, announced it is recalling multiple variations of its Care ‘N’ Share video baby monitor. The company said the monitor’s lithium batteries can overheat, swell and expand and cause the battery cover to open or pop off. The hot batteries pose a burn hazard to consumers.
Lorex said about 26,000 units have been sold in the United States and were available at Babies “R” Us, B&H, Best Buy, Target, The Home Depot, Walmart and online.
According to Lorex, they have received 488 reports of batteries overheating and expanding; about 140 reports involved the swelling of the battery pack, causing its plastic casing to open or come off. No injuries have been reported.
Anyone who has a model on the list should stop using it imediatelly and contact Lorex to receive a full refund. They can be reached toll-free at 844-265-7388 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
