Repairs Continue After Bedford Street Water Main Break

By: Rich Hosford

The Burlington Department of Public Works is advising motorists to avoid the area of Chestnut Hill Cemetery near the intersection of Bedford Street and Terrance Hall Avenue due to ongoing work.

DPW Director John Sanchez told BNEWS that a water main break occurred Wednesday night that caused damage to the road and the cemetery parking lot.

“It’s not the largest we’ve ever had but there was a good amount of damage to the road and the parking lot of to the Chestnut Hill cemetery,” he said. “It buckled both the road and the parking lot.”

Crews worked overnight to fix the break and now continued work on repairing the road through Thursday afternoon. Sanchez said the work is scheduled to reconvene Friday after the morning rush and the westbound lane (heading away from the Town Center) will be closed for re-paving.
