Sen. Ken Donnelly Letter: Returning to Serve Following Health Issue
The following is a letter from State Sen. Ken Donnelly:
In January of 2009, I was honored to take a seat in the Massachusetts State Senate as your voice in that historic body.
For the past 8 years, I am constantly reminded of both what a great responsibility I have serving as your state senator, as well as what a great joy it brings me personally to fulfill that role.
As many of you know, I recently discovered a health issue which has caused untold numbers of you to call, to reach out and to send notes of encouragement. I can never thank you enough for your concern and kind words nor will I ever be able to fully convey how important your support has been to me and my family.
As we approach Labor Day 2016 (as many of you know, one of my FAVORITE holidays), I want all of you to know that it is my expectation and goal to return as your voice and your vote when the new legislative session begins in January 2017.
The issues I hear about from so many of you -such as ensuring affordable and accessible high quality healthcare for all, securing a chance at a living wage, a first class education and a safe place to live and raise a family, and providing a clean environment for our children and grandchildren – are the issues that I have fought for in the past and will continue to focus on in the future.
And as always, my staff in the state house is available to help you on any issue that may require their assistance.
During my 37 years as a firefighter, I continually observed the courage and fortitude of people as they dealt with the surprise of managing circumstances they never expected to encounter.
I hope this bump in my personal life's road will make me, as I saw it make so many of them, a stronger, more caring, and more effective state senator.
With warmest personal regards,
