Shawsheen Tech Reopening Plan

In a letter to parents and students Shawsheen Valley Technical High School Superintendent Bradford Jackson and Principal Jessica Cook announced their fall reopening plan.

The Shawsheen School Committee approved a plan to begin school using a Hybrid Learning Model.

The plan will allow students to attend school in-person for 2 to 3 days of both the academic and shop weeks. The remainder of the week will take place with remote learning. The schedule for when students will be in-person or remote can be found on the Shawsheen Tech website

The Shawsheen School Committee voted to adjust the school calendar to reflect the mandatory 10-day school reentry period for staff and a reduced school year of 170 days for students. This adheres to the state-wide agreement set by the Massachusetts Teachers’ Association, the Massachusetts Federation of Teachers and the Boston Teachers’ Union.

Shawsheen Tech will begin school Monday, September 14th. A detailed plan will be published and shared with parent/guardians and staff on Friday, August 14th. Shawsheen will also be conducting a series of live virtual meetings for parents, students and staff to discuss specific details of the plan.

The decision as to whether or not a student returns in-person is up to each family to decide. Students will also have the option to participate 100% remotely. To assist in the implementation of the reopening plan Shawsheen is providing a survey to indicate the planned participation of students for the in-school portion of the Hybrid Learning Model.
