Stationary and Card Chain Papyrus Closing All Locations Including Burlington Mall Store

Another retail store with a Burlington location is closing. 


A week after the news that Bose is closing all its North America retail locations there is now news that the stationary chain Papyrus is set to close all of its retail locations within the next month or so, according to Fortune. Parent company Schurman Retail Group cited “current challenges of the retail industry” in a letter to employees. 


According to its website, Papyrus was founded in 1950. It specializing in greeting cards, gift bags, paper products and writing accessories. The site recently listed 260 active stores. There are 10 Papyrus locations in Massachusetts including one in the Burlington Mall. Many of the stores have reportedly already started clearance sales. The company’s website is offering discounted items and states that all sales are final. 


Fortune reports that at this time it is unclear if Papyrus plans to file for bankruptcy or if this is a consolidation by Schurman, which also owns greeting card company American Greetings and Paper Destiny.
