Support the Council on Aging's 'Senior Prom' by Dining at Not Your Average Joe's in March
By: Rich Hosford
Enjoy a nice meal and help support a great tradition at the Burlington Senior Center.
The Burlington Council (CoA) on Aging will be Not Your Average Joe’s “Cause of the Month” in March. Eat at the restaurant on any Tuesday during that month and mention the Senior Center and 15 percent of your bill, whether you dine in or take out, will be donated to the CoA.
CoA Director Marge McDonald said the funds will go to help reduce the price for seniors for the annual Senior Center Prom that will be held in the spring. During the event Burlington seniors don their finest clothes and dance the night away.
“It’s a great social event,” McDonald said. “It’s a way to get the seniors out in a nice setting.”
It’s also a chance for some members of The Greatest Generation to experience what they missed when they were in high school.
“Many seniors enlisted in the army and did not get a chance to go to their proms in high school,” McDonald explained.
