Teen Accused of Causing Fatal Accident While Racing Arrested on Warrant

By: Rich Hosford

The Burlington teen who allegedly caused an accident while racing that killed a Somerville police officer is back behind bars.

He was lead from his home in handcuffs Tuesday afternoon by the Burlington Police Department who reportedly arrested him on an outstanding warrant from Lowell Juvenile Court on a probation violation from a prior case, Burlington police said. He is being held at the Burlington Police Department pending his arraignment in Lowell on Wednesday.

Ricci, who was arrested Sunday after the accident, was out on $10,000 cash bail after being charged with felony reckless conduct after his vehicle crossed the centerline on I-95 in New Hampshire and struck Somerville Police Officer Louis Remigio who was riding a motorcycle. Remigio died from injuries sustained in the accident late Monday evening or early Tuesday morning.

Witnesses at the scene told New Hampshire State Police that it appeared Ricci was racing other vehicles and speeding at the time of the accident.

The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles has reportedly revoked his license indefinitely.
