Town Partnering With Company to Offer Discount Rainwater Collection Barrels
The Burlington Conservation Department is hoping more residents will save water and help the environment by collecting rainfall.
“Did you know that using a rain barrel to collect rainwater conserves energy, reduces stormwater runoff and pollution, and may help you save money on your water bill?” a post on the town website asks.
To help residents collect the rainwater the department has teamed up with The Great American Rain Barrels company.
“The Great American Rain Barrels are heavy duty and come with a choice of two ports to use with either a watering can or a garden hose,” the department’s notice states. “Each barrel holds 60 gallons and is available in 3 earth tone colors and unpainted.”
Residents are eligible to purchase rain barrels at the discounted rate of $69 for green, brown, and gray and $64 for unpainted (saving over 40% off the retail price).
The deadline to order the rain barrels is Saturday, May 13 at 5 p.m. You can order them by visiting www.tgarb.com and searching Community Programs for Burlington or call (800) 251-2352
Barrel pick-up will be on Saturday, May 20 from 8 to 11 a.m. in the Town Hall parking lot.
