Winter Storm Warning Issued for Early Monday through Tuesday Morning

By: Rich Hosford

Proving once and for all that groundhogs are liars, it looks like we’re in for more snow.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter storm warning that will begin at 4 a.m. Monday and run until 7 a.m. on Tuesday. The warning includes most of Massachusetts, including Middlesex County, as well as part of Rhode Island and Connecticut.

The NWS says we may get up to between four and eight inches in total.

The biggest impact of the storm will be on traffic, particularly the morning commute. Those who can stay home may want to consider doing so and those who need to be somewhere should give themselves extra time to reach their destination.

Another potential danger is falling trees and tree limbs. We saw many downed trees and limbs during Friday’s storms, some which landed on wires and the roads. Adding to this danger is expected winds between 10 to 20 miles per hour with gusts as high as 35 miles per hour.
