The Burlington Council On Aging is celebrating National Senior Center Month with an open house so everyone can explore the Senior Center and discover the range of programs and activities the Burlington COA offers. The event is happening Wednesday, September 4 between 5 p.m. to 7p.m.
Enjoy light refreshments and snacks while browsing the stunning collection of paintings and art by Burlington’s talented senior citizen artists. Director of the Burlington COA Marge Yetman is excited for the opportunity to recognize the center.
“National Senior Center Month is observed every September to recognize and celebrate the vital role that senior centers play in enriching the lives of older adults,” she said. “It highlights the diverse programs and services offered by these centers, from educational and recreational activities to social support, and emphasizes their importance in promoting wellness and community engagement for seniors.”
The event will also be a great chance to learn about those who help bring lively programming to Burlington residents who take part in the Senior Center activities.
“The open house is a chance for the public to connect with our staff and learn more about our programs and services and hopefully bring in folks who have never been to the senior center,” Yetmen continued. “The art show and sale is exclusively by the members of our art class.”
It’s not the first time the artists at the Senior Center have made themselves known around town: Their collaboratively painted pig, Poppy, was a highlight of the Sculpture Park’s summer fundraiser on the Town Common.
