The Board of Selectmen discussed the continuation of the Town of Burlington Scholarship Fund (TOBSF) at their latest meeting. Town Administrator Paul Sagarino explained that applications are open to any Burlington high school senior graduating in 2021 from Burlington High School, private schools, or vocational schools.
“It doesn’t have to be a student from the Burlington schools, it is open to Burlington students from any school,” stated Sagarino.
Every senior residing in the Town of Burlington is eligible to apply for scholarships. There will be 3 recipients selected in 2021, each will receive $2,500. Funding for the scholarships comes from Burlington residents by checking the donation box on their tax bill. Selectmen Nick Priest commented on the generosity of Burlington residents.
“In a difficult year I want to thank the people who donated and are giving to our students. Taking a few bucks and putting towards the future of our youth,” said Priest.
To qualify applicants must be attending a college, university, or a technical school accredited by their appropriate state Board of Education. The completed TOBSF application, an essay, and high school transcript are required. An application can be obtained in the Burlington High School Guidance office or by emailing email@example.com
The application deadline is April 1, 2021, completed applications can be sent to the Burlington High School Guidance Department, located at 123 Cambridge Street, Burlington, MA 01803 or emailed to Mr. Joseph Attubato, BHS-Guidance Director: firstname.lastname@example.org
The scholarships will be awarded at the Burlington High School Annual Scholarship Award Night.
