At a prior meeting the Recreation Commission’s approved the new job description and the position was advertised. Approximately twenty letters of interest and resumes were received. After completing the interview process with the town’s Human Resources Director, Lehman was selected as the candidate.

Egan commented on Lehman’s performance as Program Coordinator for the past 14 years citing programs have grown 78% with a 116% increase in events. Sponsorships have gone up 14% and program attendance has risen 90%. Edgan also noted Lehman has taken on more administrative duties as the programs have grown and took the initiative to become a certified playground safety inspector and aquatics facility manager.

“Her ability to handle any situation that arises with a well thought out and calm response, always putting our department first and her ability to see the big picture are assets we cannot overlook,” Egan stated.

There was an issue in that no members of the Recreation Commission were present for the interview process; however all the members shared their high praise of Lehman in her abilities and accomplishments during her time with Burlington Parks and Rec.

The Recreation Commission voted to appoint Lehman as the Town of Burlington’s first Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation 5-0-0.
