BHS Girls Track Went to MIAA All State Championship

Girls Track headed to the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association All-State Championship during the June 25th weekend.

In the 4×100 Meter Squad consisting of Winnie Sekyaya, Gabbi Gillis and Hope and Grace Hanafin, Burlington finished in 13th place and broke the school record once again at 50.48

Brooke Bibbo participated in two events shot put and the discus throw. In the shot put she had a personal best of 36′ 3 1/4 and finished 4th place. During discus, she had a personal best of 103′ and finished in 7th place.

Grace Hanafin finished in 4th place in the 200 meter at 25.55

Graduated senior Winnie Sekyaya finished the Long Jump at 18’4 1/2 and was the All State Champion for that. She also added another Burlington High School Record. Sekyaya broke the preliminary round at 17′ 11 1/4 and was placed in the top three in finals. Her last jump of her high school career put her in 1st place. Congrats to Winnie!

Robert Parris

Robert Parris is BCAT’s Sports and Features Reporter. Robert first got involved with BCAT in January 2016 as a volunteer news reporter. Throughout the year, as a volunteer, he was busy developing his technical skills at the studio and his ENG skills in the field. In the summer of 2017, Robert joined the team full-time. He quickly settled into his role, providing all of the production support for our news programs, as well as providing weekly sports highlights. Robert also produces a weekly feature for BNEWS, as well as a monthly show called, BNEWS Sports Hub, and BCAT’s Game of the Week.
