BHS Girls Volleyball

Varsity Playoff: The Girls Varsity Volleyball team headed to Winchester on Thursday, April 22 in the semi- round of the Middlesex League Tournament. In the 1st set, Winchester took it 25-18. Set score (1-0) Winchester. Now in the second, the Red Devils lost by four 25-21. Set score (2-0) Winchester. The Red Devils came back as they won the third set 26-24. Set score (2-1) Winchester. During the fourth set, Winchester ended Burlington’s playoff run with a score of 25-18. Final set score was (3-1).  The team finishes the season with a (8-3) record. Departing seniors from the team are Caroline Curtin, Shannon Joyce, Sam Mirra and Liz Gillespie.

Freshmen: Freshmen headed to Watertown to take on the Red Raiders on Saturday, April 17. During the 1st set the girls were the first to put up 25 points, while Watertown had 17. In the second set, the team had 26 points, and Watertown had 24. Final set score: (2-0) Burlington. The team then traveled to Wakefield to take on the Warriors for their final game of the season. In the 1st set, the Red Devils won by a score of 25-19. Second set, Wakefield  came back and finished the set with a  25 to 11 score.  Third set, Wakefield finished off the Red Devils with a 15-11 set win. Final set score (1-2) Wakefield. Burlington finishes the regular season (5-3).

JV: Junior Varsity headed to Watertown on April 17 for a date with the Red Raiders. During the first and second set, the Red Devils put up 25 points, while the Red Raiders had 11 in the first and 19 in the second. They then headed to Wakefield to finish the regular season on Monday, April 19. The Red Devils finished the sets 25-20 and 25-21. Final set score was (2-0). Burlington finished the regular season undefeated at (8-0).

Varsity: Girls Varsity headed to Watertown for a game against the Red Raiders on Saturday, April 17. In the first set, the Red Devils finished 25-11 against Watertown. Second set, the team beat the Red Raiders by 12 points in a 25-13 set win. Finally, Burlington finished it off with a 25-15 set win in Watertown. Final set score was (3-0). The girls finished the regular season in Melrose against the Red Raiders on Monday, April 19. The team lost all three sets in Melrose 1st set: 25-22, 2nd and third set: 25-16. The final set score was (3-0) Melrose. Burlington finished the regular season at (7-2).

Varsity Playoff: The team will verse the Arlington Spy Ponders on Tuesday, April 20 at Burlington High School in the Middlesex League Quarterfinals at 4pm. This game will be live-streamed on the BCATTV Facebook page.

Varsity: Girls Varsity Volleyball will be hosting a game at Burlington High School on Tuesday, April 20. Time and opponent will be determined. Currently the girls varsity team is (6-1).

Freshmen, JV and Varsity: All of the Girls Volleyball teams were supposed to verse the Melrose Red Raiders on Saturday, April 10 in Melrose, but COVID Protocols cancelled the three games. Currently Freshmen are (4-2), JV is (6-0) and Varsity is (6-1). This game will be rescheduled in the near future.

Freshmen: Freshmen had a home game against the Melrose Red Raiders on Tuesday, April 6 at Burlington High School. During the 1st set the girls only put up nine points in total, while the Red Raiders had 25. The second set the team bounced back a little bit as they scored 18 points, however Melrose was the first to reach 25. Final set score was (2-0) Melrose. The team drops to (4-2) on the season and will face the Red Raiders again on Saturday, April 10 in Melrose.

JV: Junior Varsity had a Tuesday evening match up against Melrose at BHS. The Red Devils won by six in the first set (25-Burlington) (19-Melrose). Second set was a closer margin as Burlington put up 29 points, Melrose had 27. Final set score was (2-0) Burlington. The team will see the Red Raiders again on Saturday, April 10 in Melrose. JV is currently (6-0).

Varsity: It was a battle of the unbeaten teams in the league as Burlington took on the (5-0) Melrose Red Raiders on Tuesday, April 6 at Burlington High School. The first set was really close as both teams brought their energy and momentum to the court. Burlington had 23 points, while Melrose took the set score of 25. End of the 1st set (1-0) Melrose. Second set, Melrose continued to overpower the Red Devils as they kept scoring until they reached the set score of 25. Burlington only had 15 points during the 2nd set. End of second set (2-0). Now in the third set, the girls needed to win this one to stay alive. Burlington did not go down without a fight. The Red Devils had 20 points in the third set, while Melrose finished the set with 25 points. Final set score (3-0) Melrose.

The team prepared for this prime match up all week.

” I think we expected to me a tough match and they came in ready to play, Head Coach Wingsze Seaman said. “We were off a little bit on our game, missed a bunch of serves and blocking in the wrong spots a couple of times,” she said.

Burlington is ready to climb back on the ladder and face the Red Raiders again on Saturday, April 10 in Melrose.

“We are ready to get back in the gym for our next practice and we will see them again on Saturday,” Seaman said.

The team drops to (6-1) on the season.

Freshmen: Freshmen had a home game against the Wakefield Warriors on Saturday, April 3 at Burlington High School. During the 1st set the girls were the first to reach 25. The Warriors only put up 23. Wakefield ended up winning the next two sets. 2nd set: 25 (Wakefield) 15 (Burlington) 3rd set: 25 (Wakefield) 10 (Burlington). Final set score 2-1 Wakefield. The girls drop to (4-1) on the season and will face the Melrose Red Raiders on Tuesday, April 6 at Burlington High School.

JV: Junior Varsity took on the Wakefield Warriors on Saturday, April 3 at BHS. The Red Devils finished (2-0) in the sets. 1st set: 25 (Burlington) 11 (Wakefield) 2nd set: 25 (Burlington) 21 (Wakefield). Varsity: Girls Varsity Volleyball had a big game against the Wakefield Warriors on the morning of Saturday, April 3 at Burlington High School. The last two teams met, the game went into 5 sets. During the first two sets, the Red Devils were very dominant against the Warriors. 1st set: 25 (Burlington) 8 (Wakefield) 2nd set: 25 (Burlington) 17 (Wakefield). However during the third set, Wakefield fired back as they outplayed Burlington 25-19. At the end of the third it was (2-1). Burlington and Wakefield headed into the fourth set, 25 (Burlington) 18 (Wakefield). It was a tough battle throughout, but the Red Devils held on to continue their undefeated season. Final set score was (3-1) Burlington. The team moves to (6-0) on the season and will face the Melrose Red Raiders on Tuesday, April 6 at Burlington High School.

 

Head Coach Wingsze Seaman prepared the team for the short practice week for Wakefield.

“We went into the game knowing that Wakefield was going to come in ready for Redemption,” she said. “We were ready to fight back and be aggressive with our game.”

The team did have a momentum shift when it came time in the third set, but regained it in the fourth.

“We did really well the first two sets,” she said. “The third set slipped up by us a little bit, but the fourth set we battled back.”

Varsity: Girls Volleyball traveled to Wakefield Memorial High School to take on the Warriors on Tuesday, March 30. At the time both teams were undefeated. The Warriors came out strong during the first two sets overpowering the Red Devil team. First set 25 (Wakefield) 13 (Burlington), Second set 25 (Wakefield) 19 (Burlington). The Red Devil offense had a big momentum shift during the third set as they outplayed the Warriors. Third set 25 (Burlington) 16 (Wakefield). Burlington continued the momentum during the fourth set. 25 (Burlington) 14 (Wakefield). The sets were tied 2-2 at the end of the fourth, to determine a winner both teams went into a sudden death set 5 situation. The set score for this one was 15. The Red Devils hung on and finished 15 (Burlington) to 9 (Wakefield). The team moves to (5-0) on the season and will face Wakefield again on Saturday, April 3 at Burlington High School.

Freshmen: Freshmen had a home meet against the Stoneham Spartans on Saturday, March 27 at Burlington High School. During the 1st set the girls were the first to reach the set point of 25, while the Spartans had 18. Burlington won the second set 25-16. The Red Devils move to (4-0) and will face the Wakefield Warriors on Saturday, April 3 at BHS.

JV: Junior Varsity faced off against the Stoneham Spartans on Saturday, March 27 at Burlington High School. The Red Devils finished with a 1st set score of 25-7 and second set 25-11. The team moves to (4-0) and will face Wakefield on Saturday, April 3 at BHS.

Varsity: Girls Varsity Volleyball had another matchup against the Stoneham Spartans on Saturday, March 27 at BHS. The Red Devils won all three sets during the match. First set 25 (Burlington) and 10 (Stoneham), Second 25 (Burlington) 9 (Stoneham) and third set 25 (Burlington) 12(Stoneham). Final set score was (3-0) Red Devils. The team will face the Warriors on Tuesday, March 30 at Wakefield Memorial High School. Varsity is currently (4-0) on the season.

Head Coach Wingsze Seaman is pleased with the performance against Stoneham.

“We have been practicing really hard at serving consistency and hitting more aggressively, “Head Coach Wingsze Seaman said. “I think we did well executing and everything we been practicing and we continue to work harder.”

The team will be on the road on Tuesday night.

“It has been a great start to the season,” she said. “I think we are looking forward to our next match up against Wakefield. We will continue to work through the week and do our best to be prepared against our opponent.”

Girls Volleyball teams headed to Stoneham to take on the Spartans on Saturday, March 20.

Freshmen: Girls Freshmen had to go into three sets, because the Spartans tied them early on. During the first set, Burlington was first to take the score up to 25, while the Spartans had 13. Second set, Stoneham reached the 25 set score, the Red Devils were short by four points. Now as the third set began, it was tied (1-1) Burlington reached to the 15 set score, while the Spartans had 9. Final set score was (2-1). The Freshmen move to (3-0) on the season and will face Stoneham again at BHS on Saturday, March 27.

JV: Girls Junior Varsity played two sets against Stoneham on Saturday, March 20, where they won 25-13 in the first and 25-10 in the second. Final set score was (2-0). The Red Devils will face Stoneham again on Saturday, March 27 at BHS. JV is currently (3-0) on the season.

Girls Volleyball teams headed to Wilmington to take on the Wildcats on Saturday, March 13.

Freshmen: Girls Freshmen won two sets against the Wildcats. The first set they were the first to score 25 points, while Wilmington had 14. During the final set of the game, the Red Devils got to 25 points first and the Wildcats had 15.  Final set score was (2-0) The Freshmen move to (2-0) on the season and will play the Spartans in Stoneham on Saturday, March 20.

JV: Girls Junior Varsity played two sets against the Wildcats on Saturday, March 13 in Wilmington, where they won 25-6 in the first and 25-17 in the second. Final set score was (2-0). Burlington will head to Stoneham to take on the Spartans on Saturday, March 20. JV is currently (2-0) on the season.

Varsity: Girls Varsity faced off against the Wilmington Wildcats on Saturday, March 13 at WHS. The Red Devils won all three sets during the match. First set 25 for Burlington and 13 for Wilmington, Second, 25 (Burlington) 23 (Wilmington) and final set 25 (Burlington) 19 (Wilmington). Final set score was (3-0) Red Devils. The girls will head to Stoneham to take on the Spartans on Saturday, March 20. Varsity is (2-0) on the season.

The Girls Volleyball teams started their seasons off on Saturday, March 13 at Burlington High School. Let’s see how everyone did.

Freshmen: Girls Freshmen Volleyball hosted the Wilmington Wildcats on Saturday, March 6 in their home opener. They took the (2-0) set victory over Wilmington. They will face the Wildcats again on Saturday, March 13 at Wilmington High School. 

Junior Varsity: Girls Junior Varsity played host to the Wilmington Wildcats on Saturday, March 6 inside the Burlington High School Rubber Gym. The girls won the set (2-0) over the Wildcats. They will face the Wildcats again on Saturday, March 13 at Wilmington High School.

Varsity: The Girls Varsity team hosted Wilmington Wildcats on Saturday, March 6 at the BHS Wooden Gym. The Wildcats took the first set lead by getting to 25 first, while Burlington only scored 20. The team motivated everyone during the break after the first set, and dominated the second set. Burlington was the first to reach 25 points while Wilmington scored 17. After the second set ended, both teams were tied (1-1). Third set, Burlington took the lead and won the set 25-15. (2-1) Burlington lead the set. In the fourth set, the Red Devils finished off the Wildcats in a 25-20 set win. (3-1) was the final Burlington. The team will face Wilmington again on Saturday, March 13 at Wilmington High School. 

All teams are (1-0) to start of the season.
