BHS Marching Band Competes for First Time Since November 2019

The following is a guest post by BHS Band Director Sean Buchsbaum:

On Saturday, October 2nd, the Burlington High School Marching Red Devils returned to their first marching band competition since November 2019. The band performed at a New England Scholastic Band Association (NESBA) sponsored competition, hosted by North Andover High School. The Marching Red Devils have been competing in NESBA events since 2016 and were coming off a 3rd place finish in 2019, including Best Drum Major in their division.

It has been a long road since then for the band program, as the 2020 was forced to be mostly virtual with very limited in-person activities. The band has returned strong to the marching field, fielding their 2021 show entitled “Together as One,” designed to be a showcase of the emotional connection that students have to making live, in-person music. The band had their strongest run of the season and earned a score of 74.1 in Division III. Check out their performance at NESBA North Andover here.

The Marching Red Devils will be competing at three more NESBA events this season, including Billerica, Dartmouth, and the NESBA Championships in Reading. For more information, visit nesba.org/events. You can also watch the Marching Red Devils on Varsity Field on October 8th at a home football game vs. Wakefield and at our Championships Rehearsal on Saturday, October 30th at 4:30 PM.
