BHS Spring Sports Week in Review: Track & Softball Starting Off Strong

As we enter the second week of the spring season, the Red Devils Track and Softball teams are off to a hot start.

Varsity Tennis:

Girls Varsity Tennis:
Burlington was back home on April 5 for a meet with Lexington, unfortunately the Lady Devils lost to the Minutemen 0-5. On April 7, the ladies came out strong in the meet as they defeated the Stoneham Spartans 5-0 with wins by capt. Annabel Wiley in first singles, capt. Haylee Doiron in second singles, Gabby Mallard and Anna Perl in first doubles and Sonali Patel and Alessia Pedrussi in second doubles. Burlington moves to (1-3) on the season and will host the Red Raiders of Watertown at Rahannis on April 12.

Boys Varsity Tennis:
The Red Devils competed against Lexington as well on April 5 and suffered a loss of 0-5. They bounced back on April 7 at Rahanis against Malden Catholic where the Devils won 5-0. Wins from the meet came from athletes, Soham Shah, Aditya Pathak, Andrew Perl, Malachi Riley, Brendan Gray, Krish Soni and Arnesh Yeola. Burlington’s game against Stoneham was cancelled on April 9. The Devils move to (2-2) on the season and will compete against Watertown at Victory Field on April 12.

Varsity Lacrosse:

Girls Varsity Lacrosse:
It was the home opener for the Lady Devils Lacrosse team as they competed against Winchester High School on April 6. Unfortunately, they lost by 13-18 against WHS. The ladies had an away game in Reading on April 8 where they also lost 8-15. Burlington hosted Medford on April 11 and got the first win of the season 18-2. The Red Devils move to (1-3) and will host Lexington on April 13.

Boys Varsity Lacrosse:
The Red Devils are falling behind as they lost two games this past week. Burlington went to Winchester on April 6 for the first away game of the season. The Devils lost by two points over WHS 4-6. Burlington hosted the Reading Rockets on April 8 at Varsity Field, unfortunately the team lost 3-15. The Red Devils fall to (1-2) on the season and will travel to Lexington on April 14.

Varsity Baseball:
Red Devil Baseball home opener against Reading was rescheduled from April 6 to May 25. On April 7 the team went to Lexington to face the Minutemen at Worthen Rd-Center Field Complex. Burlington held on against the Minutemen to take home a victory 5-4 and will host Stoneham on April 12 for the home opener as the Devils move to (1-1).

Varsity Softball:
The Lady Devils Softball team is off to a hot start after winning the first two games of the season. First they opened the season on the road against Reading and held on to a 3-1 win. On April 7 Lexington came to Marvin Field where they won in a blowout fashion 14-2. Burlington hosted Winchester on April 11 at Marvin Field and finished the game after five innings 12-0. The Devils move to (3-0) on the season and  will have an away game in Stoneham on April 12.

Varsity Track:

These two teams are on a roll as well as they hosted the Stoneham Spartans on April 5 at Varsity Field.

Girls Varsity Track:
The Lady Devils Track team continued the team’s success after a great winter season and pulling off a 80-56 win over Stoneham helped boost their confidence. Boys Varsity Track:
Red Devils Track also came out on top as they had a one-sided affair over the Spartans 102-34. Click here for the boys results Click here for the video feature.  The boys will travel to Watertown on April 13 for a meet against the Red Raiders.

Varsity Volleyball:
The inaugural season of boys volleyball will kick off Thursday evening in Medford. Click here to check out our feature on the team in the preseason.

Co-Ed Unified Basketball:
The Burlington Unified basketball team will begin their inaugural season on April 13 when they travel to Stoneham to compete against the Spartans.
