BHS Spring Sports Week in Review: Varsity Track Competed in Div. IV MIAA State Championship, Volleyball Hosting Millis in Playoffs

The regular season has officially wrapped up here at Burlington High School and the Red Devils are now entering the MIAA Postseason Tournament. 

Varsity Tennis:

Girls Tennis: (9-8)
In the MIAA Power Rankings, the Lady Devils are ranked seventeenth in division 2 girls tennis. Burlington will have an away playoff game in Billerica on June 6 at 4 p.m. 

Boys Tennis: (12-7)
The Red Devils had their final four matches last week as the regular season came to a close and will be competing against Reading on June 6 at 4 p.m. at Rahanis Park. 

May 17th Away: Burlington 2 Wakefield 3
Despite the loss, the Devils won two of their matches, Aditya Pathak in first singles and Malachi Riley and Arnesh Yeola in first doubles.

May 23rd Away: Burlington 1 Bedford 4
Andrew Perl won his match in third singles 6-1 and 6-2. 

May 24th: Home: Burlington 5 Wilmington 0 

May 25th: Away: Burlington 5 Malden Catholic 0

Varsity Lacrosse:

Girls Lacrosse: (15-4)
Burlington was named the Middlesex League Freedom Division Champs for the second year in a row after their win over Melrose. Congrats to the ladies on doing the accomplishment once again. Burlington waits to see if they will face in this years playoffs. 

May 25th Home: Burlington 13 Melrose 7
Lady Devils Lacrosse had their final home regular season game at Varsity Field against the Melrose Red Raiders. A number of athletes performed well and helped defeat their Middlesex League rival including Senior/captain Jolene Russo and sophomore Charlize Collins both had four goals each. Sophomores Jill Gillis had two, Anna Viglione and Elisabeth Delorey both had one and freshmen CJ Temblay also had one.

Boys Lacrosse: (8-10)
Burlington has made it to the post season and will be waiting to see if they will be home or away in the MIAA playoffs.

Varsity Baseball: (7-13)
The Red Devils finished the season at (7-13) and did not make this years 2022 MIAA Playoffs.

Varsity Softball: (18-2)
Lady Devils Softball is ranked number three in the division 2 MIAA Power Rankings. The ladies will either compete against Plymouth South or Westwood in “Round of 32” of the MIAA Playoffs on June 7 at 4:15 p.m. at Marvin Field.

Varsity Track: (2-3 Girls) (5-0 Boys)

Lady Devils and Red Devils track competed in the MIAA Division 4 State Championship over the Memorial Day Weekend.

Boys Varsity Volleyball: (8-7)

Red Devils Volleyball had their final two regular season games at home against Greater Lawrence Tech and Arlington. In the MIAA Power Rankings, Burlington is ranked fourteen in division 2 boys volleyball seeding. The Devils will host the nineteenth seed Millis High School in the “Round of 32″of the MIAA Division 2 playoff tournament at the Vanella Gym on June 3 at 5:30 p.m.

Co-Ed Unified Basketball: (5-1)
The Co-Ed Unified Basketball teams season ended on May 25 with a special Hoopapalooza Jamboree game held at the Gavin Middle School in Wakefield.
