BHS Spring Sports Week in Review: Varsity Track Competed in MIAA Meet of Champions, Volleyball Falls to Millis in Playoffs

The post season is here and a number of Red Devils teams will begin the playoff tournament this week.

Varsity Tennis:

Girls Tennis: (9-8)

June 6th Away Burlington 3 Billerica 2
The Lady Devils came away victorious against the fifteenth seed Billerica in the “Round of 32” of the division 2 MIAA girls tennis tournament. Wins in the meet were from Annabel Wiley in first singles, Haylee Doiron in second singles and Sonali Patel and Alessia Pedruzzi in first doubles. The ladies moves on to the “Round of 16” of the playoffs and will either compete against Westborough or Walpole on June 9 at 4 p.m.

In the MIAA Power Rankings, the Lady Devils are ranked seventeenth in division 2 girls tennis.

Boys Tennis: (13-7)

June 6th Home Burlington 4 Reading 1
The Red Devils are moving on to the next round of the playoffs after having a one-sided affair against the twentieth seed Reading at Rahanis Park. Wins in the meet were from Aditya Pathak, Soham Shah, Andrew Perl, Malachi Riley and Arnesh Yeola. Burlington will either compete against Belmont or Newburyport in the “Round of 16” of the division 2 MIAA playoffs on June 8 at 4 p.m.

In the MIAA Power Rankings, Burlington is ranked number thirteenth in division 2 boys tennis.

Varsity Lacrosse:

Girls Lacrosse: (15-4)
Lady Devils Lacrosse will start their playoff journey on June 8 at Varsity Field where they will have a home playoff game against the twenty-second seed Canton at 4:15 p.m. In the MIAA Power Rankings, the Lady Devils are ranked number eleventh in division 2 girls lacrosse.

Boys Lacrosse: (8-10)
The Red Devils Lacrosse team will have an away playoff game against the the fourteenth seed Nauset at Nauset Regional High School on June 8 at 5 p.m. Burlington is ranked number nineteenth in the division 2 boys tennis power rankings.

Varsity Baseball: (7-13)
The Red Devils finished the season at (7-13) and did not make this years 2022 MIAA Playoffs.

Varsity Softball: (18-2)
Lady Devils Softball is ranked number five in the division 2 MIAA Power Rankings and they will compete against Plymouth South in “Round of 32” of the MIAA Playoffs on June 7 at 4:15 p.m. at Marvin Field.

Varsity Track: (2-3 Girls) (5-0 Boys)

Boys Varsity Volleyball: (8-8)

June 3rd Home (“Round of 32” MIAA Division 2 Playoff Tournament) Burlington 2 Millis 3 

The fourteenth seeded Red Devils had a home playoff game against the nineteenth seeded Millis High School. It took five sets to declare a winner, but in the end Burlington fell short in their first ever playoff game. Millis took a two set lead over Burlington with a 25-21 set win in the first and a 25-19 set in the second. The Red Devils won the next two sets with a 26-24 win in the third set and a 25-22 win in the fourth. A sudden death fifth set was necessary for both teams. Millis was the first to reach the fifth set point of 15, while Burlington scored nine points.  img 2314

Class of 2022 seniors who have departed from the team are Ethan Baldissera, Lucas Calegari, Collin Kerr and Ethan Wheelock. We wish everyone the best of luck moving forward forward!
