It is illegal to possess, use or sell fireworks in Massachusetts without a permit and certification. Illegal use of fireworks can result in injuries, causing catastrophic bodily harm, most often to fingers and hands. Dr. George Kasparyan, MD, PhD, Chair of Orthopedic Surgery at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, advises leaving fireworks use to the professionals this July 4th holiday to avoid injuries and an unwanted trip to the Emergency Department.
