Board of Health Offers Sharp Disposal Centers

The following is a release from the Burlington Board of Health:

The Burlington Board of Health would like to remind residents that the Town of Burlington has two kiosks available for the disposal of home sharps (medical needles and syringes). “Home” sharps do not include those generated by home health aides, visiting nurses, or any other person providing a professional service in a private residence.

The kiosks have a one-way opening that can accommodate containers no larger than quart size. All sharps must be placed in approved quart size, puncture proof containers. Kiosks are located in the lobby of the Fire Department at 21 Center Street and the Burlington Police Department at 45 Center Street. Free sharps containers can be picked up at the Burlington Board of Health office at 61 Center Street. For more information on the kiosk, or information on how to obtain approved containers, please contact the Board of Health at 781-270-1955.
