Consultants with expertise in hazardous materials and geotechnical engineering were onsite at Burlington Public Schools’ Fox Hill and Pine Glen schools during winter break as the district continues its effort to secure funding from the Massachusetts School Building Authority to improve or replace the buildings.Â
Over two days of testing and inspection, consultants drilled and filled in 13 holes, peered into closets and moved ceiling tiles to get a better sense for the issues in both buildings.Â
BPS in 2020 submitted a Statement of Interest to the MSBA regarding Fox Hill, and is currently in the process of coming to a solution on whether to replace or repair the existing building.Â
According to the district’s website on the Fox Hill project, the elementary school lacks a functioning air conditioning and doesn’t have enough space for occupational therapy and small meetings.Â
