Burlington 2021 Town Election – See Who Returned Papers

We now know who is running for office in Burlington’s 2021 Town Election.

The deadline to file nomination paperwork with the Town Clerk’s office was last Friday. So, unless someone drops out, this is the list of candidates voters will have to choose from in April.

There are three town-wide contested races. Town Clerk Amy Warfield, who is finishing two five-year terms, is being challenged by Joseph Welch.

The race for the two open seats on the Board of Selectmen is also contested. Incumbents Mike Runyan (3 terms) and Joe Morandi (2 terms) have been joined in the race by challenger and Town Meeting member Shari Ellis.

The third contested race is for one seat on the Shawsheen Tech School Committee. Newcomers Michael Kelly and Christine Kim both returned papers and will compete for the seat.

Other town wide offices, including the seats held by Town Moderator Bill Beyer and School Committee members Martha Simon, are not contested.

In the races for Town Meeting there are competitive races for three-year terms in Precinct 3 and Precinct 5. There is also a competitive race for one 1-year term in Precinct 4.
