Burlington DPW Adds Two More Appointments

It’s been a time of change at Burlington’s Department of Public Works.

In September, the department unveiled its new state-of-the-art facility on Great Meadow Road. At the Select Board meeting Monday night, Brian White was named the department’s new Director with a 5-0-0 vote, set to replace the retiring John Sanchez on Jan. 2.

Also at the meeting, White had the chance to recommend two other appointments.

Jeffrey Collar was named Water Treatment Plant Operator. According to White, Collar has over eight years experience in that role for the Fitchburg Water Department.

Michael DeSimone was appointed Superintendent of Central Maintenance, a position currently held by Tommy Lee for the past 11-plus years. Lee is retiring at the end of the year after 35 years of service to the town.

DeSimone has been working for the town since 2016, currently as a Pump Station Operator and, before that, as Special Equipment Operator.
