Burlington firefighter Tyler Falconer has resigned from the fire department as of May 27, according to Fire Chief Andy Connerty.
Falconer was placed on paid leave in March following allegations of animal cruelty related to his South Boston dog boarding and training business, Falco K9, and concerns over his conduct in a personal relationship.
Falconer was arraigned Wednesday on charges of alleged animal abuse and allegedly improperly tethering an animal. According to reporting from CBS News Boston, Falconer has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is due back in court on July 18 for further proceedings.
Burlington does not comment on personnel matters and Connerty declined to comment further.
In a previous statement, the Town of Burlington said, “The Town is aware of media reports of customer complaints against the Boston dog care/training business of Burlington Firefighter Tyler Falconer as well as reported separate allegations that Falconer engaged in misconduct in a personal relationship. The Town understands that the Animal Rescue League of Boston (ARL)—an agency that is responsible for regulating his business operations—is investigating the customer complaints.
“The Town will be in contact with the ARL and will monitor its response before determining how to proceed. The Town will be independently investigating the other allegations. Firefighter Falconer has been put on administrative leave pending the results of the Town’s investigation into those allegations.”
BNEWS has reached out to Falconer for comment and has not heard back as of this publication.
