Burlington Gas Station Gets Alteration of Premises to Sell Wider Variety of Beer & Wine

A Burlington gas station that sells beer and wine products got approval for a change they made to the layout of the store that has allowed them to offer more variety.

AL Prime, the owners of the Mobil station at 324 Cambridge Street, was before the Board of Selectmen for an Alteration of Premises on their beer and wine liquor license.

The change had already been made and the business should have come before the board ahead of time but was continuing to sell alcohol thanks to a special allowance made by the town due to the fact that this seemed to be an oversight.

Attorney Mark Vaughan of Riemer & Braunstein, representing the company, said the move was made after the store expanded into a vacant location next door after the company operating there shut down.

“It gave them an opportunity to sell more food items, including a selection of frozen foods,” he said. “It also gave them an opportunity to bring their beer and wine from the right side of the store to the far left side.”

Vaughan said that the square footage of the alcohol display is the same and the layout is similar. The manager of the store said the change did allow them to offer more variety in the same amount of space due to how the display fits in with that part of the store.

In the end the board voted 4-0-1 to approve the Alteration of Premises with Board Chair Jim Tigges abstaining.
