Burlington Girls Varsity Basketball Continues Undefeated Season in Playoffs

The Burlington Lady Devils Basketball team continued their season in the post season. The Lady Devils finished the season undefeated at (10-0) and they are the first to do it in BHS history. It is also the girls first Middlesex League Freedom Division championship since the 1995-1996 season.

Burlington started off the post season against the number eight seed Reading Rockets on Wednesday, February 17 at home as they were seeded number one. The girls finished the game with  a 36-26 victory over the Rockets. Senior/Captain Marina Callahan scored 12 points in the match up, while Sophomore Alyvia Pena had 11 and Senior/Captain Sydney Pavao with 9.

One of the biggest accomplishments during the season was going undefeated during one of the most challenging times we have seen as a nation.

“I think the senior class had a lot of goals for themselves,” Head Coach Pam MacKay said. “Last year we fell one game short of a championship and that was on our minds coming into this season.”

The girls are not done yet, they will face the Wakefield Warriors on Thursday, February 18 at 10:30 am at BHS. This game will be live-streamed and will be available  to watch on the  BCAT Facebook Page.
