Burlington High Fall Sport Teams Pass the Mid Point of the Season

The fall season is well underway here at Burlington High School.

Boys Soccer:

On Friday, October 4th the Boys Varsity Soccer team held a home game at the Marshall Simonds Middle School as they hosted the Lexington Minutemen.

The Red Devils couldn’t seal the deal, as they were blown out 4-1. The team traveled to Arlington on Monday, October 7th to take on the Spy Ponders.

Burlington was in a tight game throughout, but in the end they lost the game 1-0. The boys will be back at home on Thursday afternoon to take on the Belmont Marauders.

Girls Soccer:

The Lady Devils soccer team played the Arlington Spy Ponders as well on Monday afternoon. Unfortunately, the team wasn’t on their A game as they lost to Arlington. The girls will be traveling to Belmont to take on the Marauders on Thursday afternoon.

Girls Volleyball:

The girls Volleyball team had a home game against the Lexington Minutemen at BHS on Friday, October 4th.

The Lady Devils did get the job done, and with that they are now qualified for the MIAA Playoff Tournament.The team traveled to Arlington on Monday afternoon where they won the game in a shutout of 3-0.

The team moves to (11-1) in their conference. The girls will have a home game on Thursday afternoon to take on the Belmont Marauders.

Girls Field Hockey:

The Lady Devils Field Hockey team traveled to Arlington to take on the Spy Ponders on Friday October 4th.The Varsity and Junior Varsity teams fell to Arlington. Varsity lost 5 to nothing, while JV lost 4-1. The goal there was made by Addy Jay.

The Varsity team hosted the Belmont Marauders on Monday afternoon at BHS. The girls lost to the Marauders 6-2. Goals there were made by Katie Collina and Ranya Paul.

The girls will travel to Wilmington to take on the Wildcats on Thursday afternoon.

Golf:

The Boys Varsity Golf team traveled to Wakefield on Monday to take on the Warriors. The boys won a close match with a final score of 39-33. They will be having a home game against the Reading

Rockets on Wednesday afternoon.

Boys/Girls Cross Country:

The Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams traveled up I-95 to take on the Wakefield Warriors. Both of the teams lost to their division rival on Monday. Although a loss, some individual players did well at the meet:

2nd Place: Junior James Johnson-15 minutes and 17 seconds.

4th place: Senior Ricky Healey- 15 minutes and 48 seconds.

7th place: Sophomore Paul Conti -16 minutes and 16 seconds.

10th place: Freshman Patrick Gray-16 minutes and 33 seconds.

11th place: Senior Richard Vittum – 16 minutes and 52 seconds.

13th place: Junior Richard Cromwell -17 minutes and 4 seconds

14th place: Senior Doug Bibbo- 17 minutes and 5 seconds

15th place: Junior Jack Giles- 17 minutes and 5 seconds

17th place: Junior Jonathan Wolinkski-17 minutes and 15 seconds

18th place: Freshman Rithikh Prakash- 17 minutes and 20 seconds

The Boys and Girls Cross Country teams will be back in action next Tuesday afternoon as they host the Wilmington Wildcats at BHS.

Football:

The Red Devil Football team took on the Wakefield Warriors on Friday, October 4th at Varsity Field. Quarterback Kyhle Pena threw 3 interceptions.

Touchdowns were made by Burlington Running Back John Hurley (1), Wide Receiver Tucker Stikeman (2), and finally two touchdowns were made by running back Aiden Sweeney on the day.

The Warriors did manage to get a field goal as well. The Red Devils lost in a blowout score of 30-7. The team will be traveling to Wilmington on Friday night to take on the Wildcats.

The Red Devils stand at (3-1) in their conference, while the Wildcats are at (1-4) in the conference.
