Burlington High School Girls Basketball

Here is where everyone stands for BHS Girls Varsity and Sub Varsity Basketball.

Varsity: Girls Varsity Basketball had a busy week of games and we have the scoop on what happened and where they stand. On February 10, the team had a home meet against the Melrose Red Raiders where they won by 20 points in the 52-32 victory. Then the next day, the team traveled to Melrose to see the Red Raiders again. They put up 44 unanswered points in the game while the Red Raiders had 30. The girls were on the road once more for a game against the Watertown Red Raiders on February 13. The girls beat Watertown in a 45-28 victory. Now riding high at (9-0) the girls had one game left against Watertown at home on February 15. The team eeked it out against the Red Raiders in the 44-36. The girls went undefeated this season at (10-0) and are the first to do it in BHS history. It is also the girls first Middlesex League Freedom Division championship since the 1995-1996 season. They team tops the number one seed in the playoffs and will face the number eight seed Reading Rockets on Wednesday, February 17 at BHS at 2:15 pm. Varsity: The (5-0) Girls Varsity Basketball team will face the Melrose Red Raiders on Tuesday, February 9 at BHS.

JV: Girls Junior Varsity will also face the Melrose Red Raiders at BHS on Tuesday, February 9. The girls are (1-3) on the season.

Basketball Girls:

Varsity: The girls traveled to Wakefield to take on the Warriors on Saturday, January 30 at Wakefield Memorial High School. The team went into the game with a (5-0) record. The girls snuck by the Warriors with a six point win. Senior/Captain Marina Callahan had a big day for points, as she scored 19 unanswered. Sophomore Alyvia Pena had 14 unanswered points and she was four for four on free throws in the the fourth period. The team defeated the Warriors 40-34. The girls continue the undefeated season at (6-0). They will face the Melrose Red Raiders on Saturday, February 6.

JV: Girls Junior-Varsity traveled to Wakefield to face-off against the Warriors on Saturday, January 30 at Wakefield Memorial High School. The team was defeated 42-34 against Wakefield. Burlington drops to (1-3) on the season.

Varsity:The Lady Devils Basketball team faced off against the Wakefield Warriors on Saturday, January 23 at BHS. Senior/Marina Callahan had 12 points, Sophomore Alyvia Pena had 11 points, Senior Megan Murphy had 4 points and Senior/Captain Nataleigh Barrucci had 6 points. The girls improve to (5-0) on the season and will the Warriors again on Saturday, January 30 in Wakefield.

Sub Varsity: The Lady Devils SubVarsity team is currently (1-2). Burlington lost to the Wilmington Wildcats and the Stoneham Spartans. Their only win was against the Wakefield Warriors.
