Burlington High Teams Continue in the Fall Season

We are hitting the Mid-point of the season and a few Burlington Teams are still undefeated.

Golf:

On Friday, September 27th the Boys Varsity Golf Team traveled to the Billerica Country Club to take on the Winchester Sachems. The boys lost big in that meet with a final score of 48-24. The Red Devils were supposed to be back in action on Wednesday afternoon against the Wakefield Warriors, but that meet has been postponed to a later date. Burlington will travel to Stoneham to take on the Spartans on Thursday afternoon.

Girls & Boys Soccer:

Girls Varsity Soccer traveled to Melrose to take on the Red Raiders on Friday afternoon. Unfortunately, the Lady Devils lost in a shutout of 4-0. The girls traveled to Wakefield to take on their division rivals, the Warriors on Wednesday afternoon. The girls lost in a close game 2-1, They will be back in action on Friday afternoon as they take on the Lexington Minutemen on the road. The team currently stand at (1-7-1) in their conference.

The Boys Varsity Soccer team headed for a divisional match up in Melrose on Friday afternoon to visit the Red Raiders. The Red  Devils didn’t get the job done, as they were defeated by their rival in a 3-0 shutout.

Girls Volleyball:

It was 8-0 verses 7-1 at the Burlington High School Gymnasium where the Girls Varsity Volleyball team faced the Melrose Red Raiders. The Lady Devils defeated the team in a tough 5 set match. Although the team had home advantage, they were considered the underdog in that game. On Wednesday afternoon the girls hosted a divisional game against the Wakefield Warriors. The Lady Devils won that match 3 to nothing , and 5 kills were made by Sophomore Nicole Pellegrino. With that win the girls are currently (9-1) in their conference. They will take on the Lexington Minutemen on Friday afternoon at BHS.

Football:

The Burlington Red Devils Football Team is riding high at (3-0) in their conference. They traveled to visit the Watertown Red Raiders last Friday night who at the time was (2-0). They finished that match up in a very close game 21-20 Burlington. The team will be back at home on Friday at 4:30 pm against the Wakefield Warriors.

Boys and Girls Cross Country:

On Wednesday afternoon the Boys and Girls Cross Country teams traveled up Interstate-95 to take on the Stoneham Spartans. The boys record improves to (3-0), as they defeated the Spartans 42-19. However, the girls lost their match in Stoneham 33-25. The girls stand at (1-2) in their conference. Both teams will be back next Monday afternoon in Wakefield to take on the Warriors.

Girls Field Hockey:

Lady Devils Field Hockey had a very tough match up at home on Wednesday, as they faced the Lexington Minutemen. Burlington managed to only score one goal, while the Minutemen scored 8 goals. The team moves to (3-5-1) on the season, and will be on the road on Friday afternoon to take on the Arlington Spy Ponders.
