Burlington PD to Host Citizens’ Police Academy This Fall

Have you ever wondered what is was like to make up the thin blue line? You can now find out first hand with the Burlington Police Department during an upcoming Citizens’ Police Academy. 

“Chief Thomas Browne and the men and women of the Burlington Police Department would like to invite you to get an inside look at your police department and experience what it is like to be a police officer,” an invite states. 

The 10 session live classroom is being offered for free to all Burlington residents and anyone who works in town who is 18 years or older or 16 and older if accompanied by a parent or guardian. The sessions will be held on Wednesday nights from 6 to 9 p.m. at the station and will run from October 12 to December 14. 

During the session participants will learn about: 

  • Massachusetts Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure
  • Firearms and Defensive Tactics 
  • SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) 
  • Police Patrol Procedures
  • Crime Prevention 
  • Police Technology 
  • Investigations 

Participants will have to consent to a criminal background check and sign a CORI Non-Disclosure Form.
