Burlington Police Dept. Adds Two

Burlington Police Chief Thomas Browne announced to the Select Board that two new police officers will be joining the department.

Officer Byron Lara and Officer Cody Davison both graduated on January 3 from the 4th ROC Lynnfield Police Academy.

Officer Davison finished third overall in the academy class out of 69 graduates, and earned the 100% Effort, Leadership & Character Award from academy staff. Officer Lara was also highly regarded and was praised for his “focus, intensity, and commitment to physical fitness and his willingness to mentor other classmates.”

Officer Lara speaks both Spanish and English, and is working toward a degree in Criminal Justice at Quinsigamond Community College.

Officer Davison, a Burlington High School graduate, has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from UMass Lowell, and previously worked as a reserve police officer for police in Ogunquit, Maine.

Both officers will now have a week of orientation, followed by a 12-week field training program under the supervision of a more experienced officer.

“We are proud of how both of these officers performed in the academy and happy to welcome them to our department, where I expect both to shine,” said Chief Browne.
