Burlington Ready for 50th Annual Tree Lighting, Fireworks

The Burlington Parks & Recreation Dept. is inviting folks to celebrate the 50th annual holiday tree lighting on the Town Common this Sunday, Dec. 4, at 4 p.m. Once again the event will feature entertainment, fireworks and a visit from Santa!

The rain date is Dec. 6

The 50th annual event makes this year’s happening that much more special.

“50 means it’s been a longtime tradition that residents look forward to and enjoy,” said Parks & Rec Director Brendan Egan.

Egan says he’s been involved with the festivities since 1999, with a short five-year break when he took the top job at the Park & Rec Dept. in Marblehead.

This year’s festivities will include Christmas music playing and an inflatable provided by Perfect Parties. Singer Shaylinn Gainley will also return.

Popcorn will be donated by the Dan Fahey Foundation and there will be a cider table.

Once the lights are lit by Santa, the fireworks will begin from Simonds Park.

Parking is available at all of the surrounding municipal parking lots.
