The Burlington Fire Department has a new dispatcher whose goal is to become a full time firefighter/paramedic.

On Monday evening Town Administrator Paul Sagarino, at the recommendation of Fire Chief Michael Patterson, appointed Patrick O’Halloran to the position of Civilian Fire Dispatcher.

O’Halloran is a Burlington resident and graduated from Burlington High School in 2017. During high school he was an accomplished athlete playing both hockey and baseball. He attended Plymouth State University in Plymouth, New Hampshire and currently works for Doyle Relocations in Wakefield.

Hi is an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-Basic) and is CPR Certified.

Chief Patterson said the department interviewed three candidates for the position.

“After the interviews we felt that the candidate we’re presenting tonight would be the best fit for our department,” he said. “So at this time I’m pleased to present Patrick O’Halloran.”

Patterson added that O’Halloran has expressed a desire to become a full time member of the department.

“Patrick’s long-range goal is to become a member of the Burlington Fire Department as a firefighter/paramedic so I’m really pleased to present his name to the board,” he said.

Members of the Board welcomed O’Halloran to the department. They also voted unanimously to waive the normal 15-day waiting period on new hires.

“I’d like to welcome you to the Burlington Fire Department,” Board Chair Joe Morandi said. “I think you’re going to be a great asset when the time arrives and you get in as a full time member.”

“Welcome Patrick and I’m confident you’re going to do a great job for us,” Selectman Mike Runyan, also a member of the Fire Department, said.
