Burlington to Be Hub of Global Coffee Powerhouse

Burlington is set to take center stage in the global coffee market. Keurig Dr Pepper announced an agreement to acquire coffee giant JDE Peet’s for $18 billion and subsequently separate into two publicly listed companies: Global Coffee Co. and Beverage Co.

“Today’s announcement marks a transformational moment in the beverage industry, as we build on KDP’s disruptive legacy by creating two winning companies, including a new global coffee champion,” said Tim Cofer, CEO, KDP. “Through the complementary combination of Keurig and JDE Peet’s, we are seizing an exceptional opportunity to create a global coffee giant.”

Global Coffee Co., to be headquartered in Burlington, will focus exclusively on coffee. The company is projected to generate more than $16 billion in annual net sales, making it the world’s largest pure-play coffee company. Its portfolio will include Keurig, Jacobs, L’OR and Peet’s brands.

Beverage Co., focused on cold beverages, will be headquartered in Frisco, Texas. It will retain non-coffee brands including Dr. Pepper, Canada Dry, 7 Up, A &W and Snapple, with expected annual net sales exceeding $11 billion.

Governor Maura Healey congratulated Keurig Dr Pepper on the acquisition and on selecting Burlington as the global headquarters for Global Coffee Co.

“Congratulations to Keurig Dr Pepper for brewing up another win for Massachusetts businesses, workers and customers,” said Governor Healey. “Their acquisition of JDE Peet is an exciting opportunity for these two successful companies to grow their business right here in Massachusetts. We look forward to working with them as they launch this global venture that will fuel new jobs, innovation and opportunity for our state and beyond.”

The merger is expected to close in the first half of 2026.
