Burlington Varsity Hockey Teams Battle It Out On Wednesday Evening

The Burlington Hockey teams battled hard on Wednesday night as they both hosted the Stoneham Spartans at the Ice Palace.

The girls varsity had a tough time against the Spartans as they were outscored 7-1. Sophomore and forward Alexia Hamilton got the goal for the Lady Devils late in the second period.

The girls are still trying to find their first win of the season as they fall to 0-10. They will travel to Watertown to take on the Red Raiders on Saturday afternoon at 12:20 p.m. The Red Raiders are also looking for their first win of the season after they fell to 0-8 when they played the Melrose Red Raiders who won the game by a score of 6-1.

Meanwhile, the boys outscored the Spartans with a final of 8-3 Burlington. There were multiple points scored by both sides of the teams, including Junior/forward Ryan O’Halloran who scored three goals in the first two periods. Senior/forward Joe Barbieri also managed to add some points on the board with two goals.

Stoneham would get on the scoreboard early in the second period thanks to Sophomore/Defenseman Ty Foley and Senior/Forward Cody Goulding.

Finally, points were later added in the third by Burlington Seniors/Forwards Mitchell Maida and Anthony Vallerand.

The Red Devils move up in the standings with a record of 5-4.

The team will head to Pilgrim Skating Arena on Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. to take on the Hingham Harbormen. The Harbormen beat the Duxbury Dragons on Monday night by a score of 4-3. Duxbury currently stands at 7-2 on the season.
