The reorganization of Burlington’s boards is an annual occurrence following a Town Election.
The Select Board saw Mike Espejo become Chair for his first time, and Jim Tigges became the new Vice-Chair. Both votes were unanimous.
On the School Committee, Christine Monaco nominated Melissa Massardo for Chair. The motion was seconded by Meghan Nawoichik, and approved unanimously by the committee. Nawoichik nominated Katherine Bond as Vice-Chair and Christine Monaco seconded the motion. Committee member Jeremy Brooks questioned the nomination of Bond and nominated himself. Nawoichik, Monaco, and Bond voted in favor of Bond as Vice-Chair. Brooks and Massardo voted against Bond as Vice Chair. Bond won the position by a 3-2 vote.
On the Planning Board, Brenda Rappaport was nominated to the Chair position by Toni Ann Natola, Barbara L’Heureux seconded. Rappaport was voted Chair by a 5-2-0 vote, Jessica Sutherland and Jeremy Harrington voted against. L’Heureux was unanimously selected Vice Chair and Natola was unanimously re-elected as board Clerk.
The Board of Health unanimously voted Gayle DaMore Chair of the board, and Maribeth Welch was voted Vice-Chair by another unanimous vote. This marks the first time since April, 2019 the Board of Health has not been chaired by Dr. Edward Weiner. Weiner led the board through the COVID pandemic and will continue to serve as a member.
