Burlington Casts Votes in MA Primary Election 2022

The Burlington results are in for the State Primary Elections.

In the race for State Representative of The Twenty-First District, Incumbent Ken Gordon won by a total of 3,709 to challenger Timmy Sullivan’s 1,995 votes.  The break down for this race is as follows. Gordon won by a narrow margin here in Burlington, with a total of 1,547 votes, while Challenger Timmy Sullivan received 1,523 votes. Meanwhile in Bedford, Gordon walked away with 1,835 votes, while Sullivan received 370 votes. Over in Precinct Six of Lexington, Gordon received 327 votes, while Sullivan received 102 votes. The Democratic Ballot featured many other contested races. The race for Governor saw Attorney General Maura Healey running unopposed. State Senator Sonia Rosa Chang-Diaz dropped out of the race earlier this year in June. Healey received 2,615 votes.

In the race for Lieutenant Governor there were three candidates on the ballot including Salem Mayor Kimberly Driscoll who received 1,474 votes, State Representative Tavi Gouviea who received 634 votes, and Eric Lesser who received 802 votes.

The race for Attorney General had Andrea Joy Campbell and Shannon Erika Liss-Riordan competing for the nomination. Former Assistant Attorney General Quentin Palfrey withdrew from the race last week. Andrea Joy Campbell received 1,273 votes, while Shannon Erika Liss-Riordan received 1,042 votes.

The Governor’s Council of the Third District race saw Incumbent Marilyn Pettito-Devaney running against Challenger Mara Dolan. Burlington selected Devaney 1,743 with votes, opposed to Dolan who received 984 votes.

In the race for Secretary of State, Incumbent William Francis Galvin went against Challenger Tanisha M. Sullivan. Voters in Burlington selected Galvin with 2,365 votes. Sullivan received 710 votes.

The race for Auditor was also contested with two candidates, Christopher S. Dempsey and State Senator Diana DiZoglio. It was a close race, but Burlington awarded DiZoglio with 1,660 votes while Dempsey received 1,164 votes.

There were several non-contested races on the Democratic Ballot with many incumbents returning to their position, such as State Senator Cindy Friedman, Congress Representative Seth Moulton,  District Attorney Marian Ryan, and Middlesex Sheriff Peter Koutoujian.

 

On the Republican Ballot there were far less contested races. The race for Governor featured two candidates, former State Representative Geoff Diehl and Chris Doughty. Burlington voters awarded Diehl wth 664 votes, while Doughty received 301 votes.

The race for Lieutenant Governor also featured two candidates and two former State Representatives, Leah V. Allen and Kate Campanale. Allen had the majority with 707 votes, while Campanale received 471 votes.

As far as uncontested races on the Republican ballot there is James R. McMahon for Attorney General, Rayla Campbell for Secretary of State, Anthony Amore for Auditor, and Bob May for Representative of Congress. Several positions up for election received no Republican nominations.
