With the approaching retirement of Assistant Fire Chief Steven McLean, Fire Chief James Browne recommended Captain Mark Cedrone as his replacement to the Select Board.
Captain Cedrone began with the fire department in 2001 and worked his way up to lieutenant in 2008 and then captain in 2017. For the last seven years, he has served as the training and communications captain, where he has been responsible for training and onboarding new hires, transfers, and dispatchers, as well as ongoing department training.
Cedrone has led multiple department committees and was instrumental in the implementation and training of the department’s computer-aided dispatch and recordkeeping system.
“He holds multiple certifications and has taken numerous continuing ed classes from both the Mass Fire Academy and the National Fire Academy,” said Browne. “Too numerous to list.”
Cedrone holds a Bachelor of Science in finance from UMass and an Associate of Science in fire science from Middlesex Community College.
The Select Board unanimously approved Cedrone for the position of Assistant Fire Chief, taking effect on May 4.
