Collecting Grocery Gift Cards for Those In Need

As the government shutdown continues, SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits remain on hold, making it difficult for lower income households to keep food on the table.

Joanna Schlansky of Elite Realty Experts in Burlington, has partnered with the Burlington Food Pantry to collect donations of grocery gift cards to help residents that rely on SNAP.

“Every week the Pantry is getting new families.” says Schlansky, “If they run out of a certain product, the families can shop and they can issue the gift cards as they deem necessary.”

After just a week, close to $3,000 in gift cards have been raised. “People are being very generous.” said Schlansky, “It’s amazing, and the Food Pantry is very appreciative.”

Donations can be dropped off at three locations listed below, or residents can send a donation to Joanna Schlansky via Venmo.
