Burlington’s Town Meeting has 126 members, with 18 members in each of seven precincts. According to Town Meeting and Rules Committee Member Myrna Saltman, those 126 people don’t know each other well enough, and certainly don’t know the other members of their precinct well enough to serve their constituents.
Saltman is planning a dinner only for Town Meeting members right before September’s Town Meeting, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, September 23 at Grand View Farm. Dinner, dessert and beverages will be served.
“No agenda, no cost, just pleasantries,” Saltman said.
Town Meeting faces a hefty agenda on the 23rd, as the district decides whether or not to fund the reconstruction of the Fox Hill Elementary School and whether or not to introduce a recall measure for elected officials, among other warrant articles.Â
