Cops and Cars Antique Car Show Slated to Return to Town Common

The Burlington Police Department is looking to once again fill the Town Common with antique cars for a day of fun and for a chance for residents to meet with police officers.

Retired Police Sgt. Bernie Schipelliti was at Monday evening’s Board of Selectmen meeting to seek permission to use the Town Common for a Cops and Cars event that will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 11 with a rain date of Sunday, June 12.

“It’s a classic car show and members of the Police Department attend and interact with car owners and the people who are there to look at the cars,” he said.

Cops and Cars is a national program and the first time it was held here in Burlington was in 2019.

“We were looking to do it again in 2020 and 2021 but unfortunately due to the events that were ongoing it just couldn’t happen,” Schipelliti explained. Now that things are opening up again we want to get back on track and have this show back on the Common.

There is a small fee for anyone looking to have their car in the show and all proceeds from the event will be donated to People Helping People and the Burlington Food Pantry and the organization’s other charity works in town.

The members of the Board of Selectmen approved the use of the Town Common with a unanimous vote.
