Tuesday, November 5 the Burlington Public Library is offering the opportunity to reduce the stress of Election Day and take a selfie with an alpaca. The library will be hosting two alpacas from Harvard Alpaca Ranch from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
“Elections, no matter what side you’re on, tend to be stressful and we wanted to give an experience for all ages. We’re really marketing it for all ages, we want adults and kids to come have fun,” said Programming and Marketing Librarian Daniel Barbour.
Weather permitting, the alpaca meet-and-greet will be outdoors in the library parking lot. There will be a short presentation on alpacas by the handlers from Harvard Alpaca Ranch to teach people a few facts about the animals.
“We thought it would be something on election day, if you’re not happy with the experience of going out to the polls or feeling unsatisfied, at the library we’ll give you something to look forward to,” Barbour continued. “And something that would be a good stress reliever and get those alpaca selfies that you might not have had another opportunity to get.”
Barbour credits the idea for bringing in the alpacas to the library’s Assistant Director Cara Enos.
“Should be a lot of laughter and a good time for everybody,” Barbour said.
