Election Update – School Committee, Town Meeting Precincts Contested

As the deadline for nomination papers draws closer, we are starting to get a clearer picture of what this year’s town election will look like.

The race for two open-seats on the School Committee includes two incumbents and two newcomers. Newcomer Hilary Kleck has pulled papers, joining fellow newcomer Aaron Reeves, and Current Vice Chair Katherine Bond and Jeremy Brooks who are seeking a third and second term respectively.

While it’s still early, a few seats for Town Meeting are also currently contested.

Over in Precinct One, newcomers Vance Huntoon and Craig MacElhiney are vying for a single, two-year seat. In Precinct Six, eight residents have pulled papers for six three-year seats. Incumbents include Ryan Clement, John Iler, Blaise Leeber, Rose Manni, and Edward Parsons. Newcomers include Erika Maguire, Karmela Schmaelze, and Adrianne Simone.

Meanwhile in the race for Board of Health, longtime member Maribeth Welch has decided to not seek re-election. Welch was recently recognized by the Board at their recent meeting. As of right now, only newcomer Orisa Hanushevsky has pulled papers for Welch’s vacated seat.

You can see full lists of who has pulled papers, and open seats on the Town Clerk’s website. Friday February 20 will be the last day to file nomination papers with the Board of Registrars.
