Emergency Pet Preparedness

On December 6, 2023 from 6-7 pm, Dr. David Schwarz will be offering a free one-hour Emergency Pet Preparedness and Sheltering presentation at the Burlington Volunteer Reserve Corps (BVRC) quarterly meeting.  Interested members of the public are invited to attend.

Dr. Schwarz is the founder of the Ashland Animal Hospital and current Veterinary Services Team Leader for the State of Massachusetts Animal Response Team (SMART).  Often our pet’s health and well-being are overlooked when we are putting together an emergency preparedness kit or developing a family emergency response plan.  This discussion will help participants to properly prepare their pets in the event of an emergency.

The BVRC is a volunteer organization whose members are ready to provide assistance to the Burlington Community in the event of an emergency, such as widespread power outages, pandemic disease outbreaks, or severe weather emergencies.  BVRC members participate in training, exercises, and drills to become better prepared for emergency situations.  In addition, BVRC members provide assistance to the Burlington Board of Health during flu clinics, household hazardous waste collections, blood pressure screenings, and other public health initiatives.

This presentation will be held at Grandview Farm Hall at 55 Center St., Burlington MA.  If you or someone you know would like to attend the training, please contact the Burlington Board of Health at boh@burlington.org or call 781-270-1955 to sign up.
