European Based Life Science Company Eyeing Burlington Location

A European based life science company is looking to open a location in Burlington, continuing a development of the industry in town.

According to a special permit application filed with the Planning Department, Stilla Technologies, Inc. is in the works to set up a location at 20 Blanchard Road. Stilla Technologies, headquartered in Paris, France, is a life science company that develops, manufactures and sells specific instrumentation to research laboratories enabling high performance genetic research studies. In Burlington they are looking to open a product demonstration and customer training center in a facility that will also hold a small laboratory to perform molecular research testing and support services.

According to the application, the company is looking to occupy approximately 7,500 square feet in the building and is seeking special use permits to accommodate such use. No exterior building or site modifications are being proposed at this time.

In a letter accompanying the application, Philippe Mourere, President and CEO of Still Technologies, says the company has been operating in the United States, and in Massachusetts, since 2019 when it opened a location in Beverly and this new location will be part of their planned expansion in the country.

“The new facilities represent an approximate doubling in size over our current footprint in Beverly, MA and will employ about 25 employees in the next few months,” he wrote. “The primary use of the premises will be as a product demonstration and customer training center. Those activities are critical to support our sales process and require hosting customers on-site for presentations, product demonstrations and technical discussions. The Burlington facilities will significantly improve our overall productivity, saving time and costs of shipping our system platforms across the country along with the scientific support team.”

The special permit application is scheduled to appear before the Planning Board on Thursday, May 19.
