How Burlington Runners Did In The 130th Boston Marathon

Athletes from around the globe made the trek from Hopkinton to Copley Square for the 130th Boston Marathon. Among them were 18 runners with ties to Burlington. Here are the results from Burlington runners who competed on Marathon Monday.

Alexandra Mindel, 40, turned in an impressive time of 2:51:59 in the women’s race and finished in 3,393rd place.

Paul Mackey, 44, posted a strong time of 2:57:04, the fastest among the Burlington men, and came in 4,897th place.

Rafe Maxwell, 60, crossed the finish line in 3:43:54 and placed 18,390th overall.

Burlington High School math teacher Erin Lapsley also ran, and improved on her time from last year’s race. Competing in the 40–44 age group, she finished 8,656th with a time of 03:10:08.

Maureen Ryan completed her first Boston Marathon, running in support of Golf Fights Cancer.

The James Gang, The James Gang, a local nonprofit that promotes inclusion for adults living with intellectual disabilities had several Burlington Runners on its team, including Rose Hatch and David Tait . The nonprofit was named after James Anderson who has NARS1 Gene Disorder. Kevin Cronin and James Anderson competed as a duo team, finishing in 04:04:05 and placing 11th overall. The James Gang has raised more than $55,000 through this year’s marathon. Their funding provides grants to local partners, including the Burlington Recreation Department, to provide opportunities for those individuals to foster friendships and experiences through sports, music therapy, and adaptive fitness classes.

Beth Israel Lahey Health also had a team of 22 runners take part in this year’s marathon. Team BILH: Strong Together raised more than $215,000 in support of Lahey Hospital & Medical Center. Proceeds will benefit the hospital’s President’s Fund, which provides flexible funding to support patient care, education, and new initiatives.
